Coat of Arms

[COA of Namdalseid] image by Tomislav Šipek, 20 November 2015

Blazon: I gull sju røde kors som danner en sirkel. In English: Or six crosses gules in annulo.
Approved by the royal resolution of 2 June 1989
The municipal web site explains that the design was inspired by a 1344 seal used by peasants of Øvre Namdal or Elfri Halfua (as the name was at the time) on a document regarding the coronation of Haakon VI. The seal depicts a building toped with a cross similar to those in the coat of arms, representing the Ranem church in the village. The seal is shown here.
