Coat of Arms

Blazon: På svart bunn en sølv hane.
In English: Sable a rooster argent.
Approved by the crownprince-regent's resolution of 13 September 1974 after a drawing by Arthur Gustavsson. [c2j87]
The municipal web site explains that while the blazons talsk only of a silver rooster, the drsign actually shows its "armed" red and in practice it means that it gives wide freeding in how it should be represented.
The Mosjøen town actually got this coat of arms approved by the royal resolution of 25 March 1960. Since 1962 Mosjøen was unified with municipalities of Vefsn, Drevja and Elsfjord taking the name Vefsn.
The new municipality took the previous arms of Mosjøens with no changes.  The flag is prescribed in square form. (Sorry, Tomislav, you'll have to redraw it :)
