It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain yellow field.

The shield is Vert, an almond tree eradicated Or flowered Argent, seeded Gules, issuant from base a wall Argent masoned Sable. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "AMENDOEIRA". The shape of the scroll is the one favoured by heraldrist José Bénard Guedes.
Meaning:
"Amendoeira" means "almond tree" and the tree on the arms is canting for it.

Amendoeira Commune is one of the 30 communes of Macedo de Cavaleiros Municipality; it had 427 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 15.6 km².
