Meaning:
The hill of pebbles (Portuguese: seixo) probably is a canting element whilst the base is alluding to a local creek.

Seixal Commune is one of the four communes of Porto Moniz Municipality (q.v.); it had 656 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 29.5 km².
