Coat of arms

Shield Azure, a pale wavy Argent, flanked by two watermill wheels Or, and superimposed in chief by a hammer Argent hilted Sable, Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "RIO DE MOINHOS - PENAFIEL".
Meaning:
The commune's name means "river of mills", thus millwheels and pale wavy are canting.
