The arms are Vert an aeroplane's propeller Argent and in chief an imperial globe (orb) Or garnished Gules and in base two barrulets wavy Argent. Mural crown argent with three visible towers (commune rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "FREGUESIA DE SANTA CRUZ".
Meaning:
"_Santa cruz_" means "holy cross" in Portuguese, the orb may be canting. And the propeller symbolizes the local Madeira Airport (IATA: FNC, ICAO: LPMA). The wavy pattern of green and white stands for the sea, as usual in (Portuguese) heraldry.
