Coat of arms

Shield Azure divided by saltire wavy Azure fimbriated Argent, in chief quarter a crescent recumbent Argent topped by a 5-point star Or, in dexter quarter a windmill's wheel roped sable and rigged Argent, in sinister quarter two swords Argent hilted Or crossed per saltire, the sinister bendy sword is superimposing the bendy one being a scimitar. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "ALGUEIRÃO - MEM MARTINS".

Presentation of Algueirão-Mem Martins

Algueirão-Mem Martins Commune is one of the 11 communes of the Sintra municipality (q.v.); it had 66 358 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 16.0 km². Algueirão-Mem Martins gained the rank of a town (vila) on 1 February 1988.
