Coat of arms

[Bouçoães commune CoA] image by Sérgio Horta, 15 Mar 2016

Shield Argent a tower Gules roofed Azure, masoned Or with port and windows Or between two eradicated pine trees Vert fruited Gules, on base wavy Azure a barrulet wavy Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "BOUÇOÃES". The shape of the scroll is not the most usual but the one favoured by heraldrist José Bénard Guedes and some times used also by others.
Meaning:
The word "bouçoães" lacks a known meaning in current Portuguese, but it looks clearly like the plural of "bouçoão" (also meaningless in practice). Since the only plural thing in the arms are the pine trees, this flag is not canting - unless it turns out that "bouçoão" is an archaism or regionalism for "pine tree" I didn't know about.
