Université de la Réunion (UR) is composed of 5 Teaching and Research Departments (Law and Economy, Sciences and Technology, Letters and Humanities, Human and Environmental Sciences, and Health) (Article 29 of the university's Statutes, last revised by the Board on 17 October 2016 - text), 5 Institutes and Schools (Institute of Business Administration, University Institute of Technology, Engineers' Higher School Reunion-Indian Ocean, Higher School of Professorate and Education, Observatory of Universe Sciences of La Reunion) (Article 29), and three Education internal Departments (Center for Apprentice Education of La Reunion, Confucius Institute of La Reunion, Institute of Alphabetization) (Article 30).
The educational institute established in Saint-Denis by Decree No. 1,294, issued on 23 December 1970, was transformed into a university by
Decree No. 907, issued on 15 October 1982, its status being granted by
Decree No. 723, issued on 17 July 1984 (Article 1).
UR is headquartered in Saint-Denis, with secondary seats in Le Tampon and Saint-Pierre (Article 2).

The flag of Université de la Réunion (photo, photo, photo) is white with the university's logo.
The new logo is based on three principles:
- patronymic identification
The initials "UR" are replaced by the complete denomination "Université de la Réunion'.
- geographical identification
Université de la Réunion is easily identified by a red dot. Knowledge offered by the university sails in waves spreading on all the southern zone of the Indian Ocean.
- the association of avant-gardist lines with institutional rigor
Based on square geographical shapes, solid and stable, on dynamic lines and movement, the graphic style is deliberately trendy, especially on the sphere. The motto "S'ouvrir aux mondes" [prescribed in Article 2 of the Statutes] was re-established, highlighting the aims of UR to exchange, teach and transmit knowledge in the cultural, scientific, academic, economic... domains.
The typography is based on sans serif font [Din] to make reading easy. The selected graphism associates simplicity and graphic trend. This creation accounts for time usury and the need to remain stylish and aesthetically pleasant. The motto associated to the generic name directly supports the strategic approach of Université de la Réunion. Insularity is not a limit, rather it fosters more communication to outside and underlines a strong use of new technologies of information and communication.
The logo's normalized colors should never ever be modified.
- The earth sphere: Pantone 282 C / CMYK 100-60-0-54
- The denomination: in white letters framed in a blue square, Pantone 285 C / CMYK 89-43-0-0
- The motto "S'ouvrir aux mondes": in white letters framed in a red rectangle, Pantone 485 C / CMYK 0-100-95-0
