Description of the Flag

The Church of Pentecost, a Ghana-based Christian denomination can be seen at their website:, in context at, and another shot of it can be seen with the Ghanaian flag at

The flag consists of the Church logo placed over a yellow/blue field, diagonally divided by a thin white stripe. The church's website states: "...It is drawn in four colours. The colours yellow and blue, separated by white, surround the Church's logo. The colour yellow represents the golden church the Lord is building for His golden city. Blue represents the peace of heaven which is given by Christ alone, while the colour white represents the righteousness of God to which every Christian aspires. The colour red, of course, represents the Holy Spirit Who is preparing us for eternal life in heaven."
"The logo of the Church of Pentecost ... comprises three concentric circles surrounding the world map. Above the map, but within the circles, is a descending dove surrounded by a ring of fire (in red). The map, the dove and the concentric circles are in light blue on a white background."
"The shape of the logo and its colours, as presented on this page, are standard, meaning that, like the logo of any corporate organisation, they should never be represented differently. It ceases to be the Church's logo the moment its shape or colours are changed! Under no circumstance, therefore, should the name of the Church also be written around the logo."

The church was founded in 1953 as a result of a split within an earlier denomination. It initially took the name of the Gold Coast Apostolic Church, changing to Ghana Apostolic Church in 1957, and to the Church of Pentecost in 1962. ... Membership is estimated at over one million, and it is among the largest denominations in Ghana. There are also members in other West African nations, Europe, and North America, largely Ghanaian emigrants.[source: Religions of the World: a Comprehensive Encyclopedia of Beliefs and Practices, vol. 2, p. 698]

The website of the Canadian branch of the Church states that that the Church is active in over 70 countries and a total worldwide membership of over 1.7 million (

According to the Encyclopedia of New Religious Movements the Church of the Pentecost is currently the second largest Christian denomination in Ghana and is projected to soon move past the Roman Catholic Church into first place (
