Description of the flag

In the Chuvash State Regional Museum is displayed an original flag of the 1773-1775 peasant revolt leaded by Pugaĉov. I don’t know if it was the only used copy or, if not, if all used flags looked the same, but anyway here’s the one at the exhibition. Its a square flag, red with four white squares 2×2 forming a cross and a edge frame, larger in the hoist and in the upper side. The colors are now faded to brown red and grey, but a painting of that time clearly shows the original colors.
