Description of the flag

The customs office of Suriname was established on January 1, 1864.

On this day, the Active Tax Service was established, which includes Customs. After the Second World War, direct and indirect taxes were divided. In the case of the Customs, the nature of the tax speaks for itself, that it falls under the control of indirect taxes, at that time import duties and excise taxes. In the 1970s, it was changed to the Import Customs and Excise Inspectorate, headed by an inspector.

Today's customs service is a flexible service oriented to the challenges of the 21st century, such as globalization, IT, etc. The purpose of the service is to provide the tasks and powers assigned to it as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
