Centro Nacional de Registros (CNR - Registers' National Center) was
established by Executive Decree No. 62, issued on 5 December 1994 and published
on 7 December 1994 in the official gazette, No. 227; the Decree was modified by
Decree No. 135, issued on 24 July 2012 and published on 22 August 2012 in the
official gazette, No. 154, pp. 65-66 (https://www.transparencia.gob.sv/institutions/cnr/documents/2564/download).
Originally a decentralized unit of the Ministry of Justice, CNR was transferred
to the Ministry of Economy by Executive Decree No. 6, issued on 1 June 1999.
CNR is composed of five main directorates:
- Register of Real Property
and Mortgage;
- Register of Commerce;
- Register of Intellectual Property;
- National Geographic Institute and of National Cadaster;
- Register of
Personal Property Loans.
