Presentation of TOBB

TZOB (website), headquartered in Ankara, groups the 81 provincial Chambers of Agriculture.
Chambers of Agriculture were first established in the Ottoman Empire in 1881, their number increasing to 99 in 1897. In 1912, Chambers of Agriculture were founded at district level, but could not fulfill their duties because of lack of funds.
Chambers of Agriculture were reactivated in 1940, in compliance with Articles 6 and 7 of Law No. 3,203 on the Ministry of Agriculture, promulgated in 1937. TZOB was established by Law No. 6,964, promulgated in 1957, but operation of Chambers of Agriculture was delayed until 1963.

Article 1 of the Law establishing TZOB states:
Agricultural chambers should be able to provide professional services, to meet the common needs of farmers, to facilitate their professional activities, to ensure that the farming profession develops in accordance with its general interests, to ensure the integrity and trust of the members of the profession in their relations with each other and with the public, to watch and observe professional discipline and morality, professional rights and interests established in order to protect the legal personality of professional organizations in the nature of the institution.

Article 3 of the Law describes the duties of the Chambers of Agriculture: To organize and hold meetings on agricultural and agricultural development, to participate in such meetings, to organize laboratories, museums, experimental farms, agricultural and forestry establishments, establishing farmers' advising centers, carrying out studies in irrigation, draining, afforestation, soil conservation and increasing productivity and supporting social work.

Article 24 of the Law describes the duties of TZOB:
To carry out the necessary work in order to carry out the agricultural policies in accordance with the general interests, to publicize the views on agriculture to the Government and the public and to protect the rights and interests of the farmers. For this, farmers are preparing reports by taking advantage of their thoughts on the policies applied. Thus, efforts are being made to increase the contribution of the agricultural sector to the national economy and to improve the economic and social aspects of the farmers.

Flag of TZOB

The flag of TZOB is green with the organization's emblem. The motto "Vatan Hürriyet Ekmek" reads "Fatherland Liberty Bread". On the flags, the emblem is used in two slightly different color schemes:
- lighter blue background, motto and year in white, "TZOB" in red letters (stand-alone emblem in current use) (photo, photo, photo, photo, photo, photo, photo, photo, photo).
- darker blue background, writing in golden yellow letters (photo, photo, photo, photo, photo, photo, photo, photo, photo, photo, photo, photo, photo, photo).

The flag appears to be also used with a white background, to a much lesser extent (photo, photo, photo).
