The flamingo recalls that Lake Acıgöl ("Bitter Lake"; 100 sq. km in spring, only 35 sq. km in late summer) is located on the migration route of flamingos and is a suitable living and feeding area because of its shallow and salty characteristic. Some 2,000 greater flamingos have been recorded here.
