Description of the Flag

The winning design for Elk Ridge City's flag is by Sarah Millington. The flag was announced on 10 May 2017.

Explanation of symbolism:
The 3 colors are for the 3 names of the area over time: Loafer Mountain Green Goosenest Ranch, Great View Blue Salem Hills Township, White Elk Ridge City. The green is also for the hills and mountains; blue for the great view of Utah Lake and clear air in our mountain home, and our struggle for water supply; white for the goodness and unity of the people. The 3 stripes also represent the 3 main areas of the city: Upper, Middle, Lower. The Middle is the largest area and the wider stripe. The strong Elk in all 3 Stripes represents "who we are" and "what we are", as in the expression: 'Show your stripes."

The flag of Elk Ridge, (proposal titled "Elk Stripes") "was favored at 63% to 38% in the final vote. The People's Flag of Elk Ridge has been chosen through voting (11% of total estimated population, 3800 residents adults & children). The Flag was adopted unanimously as the official Flag of Elk Ridge City through resolution by the City Council on Tuesday May 9, 2017
(source: siterepository.s3.amazonaws.com/64/cc2017_05_09.pdf). The resolution encourages the use of the flag by residents to show civic pride and commitment, and it even includes a City Flag Day a chance to "Show your Stripes" every year on May 9th. The winning design was made by Sarah Millington (most likely a relative of Dallin Millington, head of the flag committee).
