The seal is a dark red ring with the town and state name inscribed at the top of the ring, with the town motto divided by the incorporation year of 1778. The motto can be translated from Latin, and reads the following, "Honor For The Ancients, Faith For The Future". In the center is a diagonally divided disc of blue and red. In the first quarter is a wolf staring over a river with a Fort on the other side. This fort was known of Black's Fort. The second quarter contains a wheel and an axe. The third quarter contains the masks of comedy and tragedy, hanging over a lit candle sitting on top of an open book. The fourth quarter includes a wheat plant next to a cow's head.
