Current Flag

The current flag of Gassaway is a burgundy field. The rest is the exact same as the first town flag, only a variety of improvements were made to the train and deer. the year "1905" was added to the front of the steam locomotive.

A variation of the flag with a blue field can be seen at the intersection of Elk and State street. It was adopted in 2022 as the successor to the flag formally adopted in 2020.

The Google post refers to flag design by GAIC, which is probably the Gassaway Area Improvement Council: https://www.facebook.com/GassawayAreaImprovementCouncil

Second flag (2020-2022)

[Flag of Gassaway, West Virginia] image by David Zigler, 23 November 2022

The flag is a white field with a red border. In the center of the flag is a white outline of West Virginia with a black border. The outline is overlayed by a red heart with a heartrate monitor going through it. The color of the heart is much redder than the rest of the red used on the flag. Underneath the outline is black text in a cursive font which reads: "The Heart of West Virginia". Even though Sutton is closer to the real geopolitical center of West Virginia. The city's name in a red with a white-red outline is curved over the outline.

The flag was officially adopted on June, 26 2020 and was used until being relinquished sometime in 2022.

The first flag is a burgundy field. At the top of the flag is the town's name. At the bottom left hoist side of the flag is a yellow minimalistic steam locomotive. In the bottom fly side of the flag is a yellow deer with white antlers and feet. in the background behind the deer are white mountains.

The flag was adopted in at an unknown date and was used until it was replaced by the 2020 flag. In 2022, the flag was readopted, only with some changed made to the train and deer.
