The National War College is subordinate to the National Defense University, and is at Fort McNair, DC.

The flag is white, with a blue fringe, and the agency seal in the center.

William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies

The CHDS is a subordinate element of the National Defense University, but is closely aligned with US Southern Command. It is located in Washington, DC.

Old flag (shown above): light blue with gold fringe, agency seal in center.

It recently added "William J. Perry" to its name (April 2013), and the seal was amended slightly, seen in more recent flags.

Africa Center for Strategic Studies

"The U.S. European Command (EUCOM) and the House National Security Committee in June 1995 requested that the Department of Defense develop an “African Center for Security Studies” that would “encourage a broader understanding on the African continent of military matters compatible with democratic principles and civilian control.” In March 1999, the Africa Center for Strategic Studies was formally established in Arlington, Virginia. In 2004, the Africa Center was co-located with the National Defense University"
