The official ceremony was held during the event held for the national holiday at School No. 870 “27 de abril” and was headed by the commissioner of Gramilla, José Castro, and was attended by members of the educational community, as well as residents of the region.

The community leader said in this regard: "We feel proud because it is an important commitment, since it will represent Gramilla everywhere and we are proud to have been able to add this symbol for our entire community."

In this regard, he explained that the flag was created based on a proposal from students of the “27 de abril” School, presented in March of this year.

Regarding the insignia, Castro explained that “it represents our land, it has the colors of our province's flag in the background; its center is represented by the sun of the national flag next to the crown of the Virgin of the Rosary, patron saint of the town.”

He also added that "the train tracks are drawn here, representing the economic growth of the town as it passes through; the guitar, as a traditional symbol of Santiago; the clasped hands, which represent the friendship of our people and the green, represents the grass, a natural species of the area from which the name of our town comes.
