The municipality of Marcilla de Campos (47 inhabitants in 2010; 2,186 ha; municipal website) is located 40 km from Palencia.
Marcilla seems to have been named for its resettler Marcus (but see the coat of arms), with the diminutive suffix -illa, forming the old name Marciella. A Roman estate (villa) was excavated in the place called Los Cantos, which seems to have superseded a much older settlement dating back to the Age of Bronze.

The flag and arms of Marcilla de Campos are prescribed by a Decree
adopted on 10 April 2000 by the Palencia Provincial Government, signed
on 13 April 2000 by the President of the Government, and published on 4
May 2000 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 85, p. 5,022 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:
Flag: Quadrangular flag with proportions 1:1, with horizontal stripes red and green. In the middle of the flag is placed the municipal coat of arms, in full colors.
Coat of arms: Of Spanish shape, per fess, 1. Gules a Roman patrician (Marco) or, 2. Vert a spike or. The shield surmounted with a Royal Spanish crown.
