The municipality of Santervás de la Vega (504 inhabitants in 2010; 6,329 ha; municipal website) is located 70 km from Palencia. The municipality is made of the villages of Santervás de la Vega (capital), Villapún and Villarobejo.
Santervás is named for St. Gervasius, a Christian martyr beheaded in 165 in Milan together with his brother Protasius. Villapún and Villarobejo seem to have been named for the anthroponyms Eypuu and Rebelio, respectively. The three villages belonged in the 14th century to Juan Alfonso de Alburquerque, tutor and subsequent councillor of King Peter I; they were transferred in the middle of the 15th century to the Bishop of Ávila.
