The municipality of Villamoronta (286 inhabitants in 2010; 1,329 ha) is located 50 km from Palencia.
Villamoronta is named for his resettler Mauronta, mentioned in
documents of the Sahagún monastery dated 919 and in documents of the
León cathedral, and also the resettler of the village of Torremoronta
(Palenzuela).

The flag and arms of Villamoronta are prescribed by a Decree adopted
on 21 December 2007 by the Municipal Council, signed on 29 February
2008 by the Mayor, and published on 14 March 2008 in the official
gazette of Castilla y León No. 52, p. 4,855 (text).
The symbols, designed by the historian and expert in heraldry
Faustino Narganes Quijano (El Norte de Castilla, 3 April 2008), are described as follows:
Flag: With proportions 2:3, tierced at hoist. At fly, red (or gules) with a yellow (or or) tower, crenelated and with blue (or azure) port and windows. At hoist, blue (or azure), a white (or argent) helmet in the middle, in the upper and lower parts a yellow (or or) six-pointed star.
Coat of arms: In Spanish shape. Gules a tower or port and windows azure ensigned with an helmet argent surrounded by two six-pointed stars or. The shield surmounted with a Royal Spanish crown.
