The arms are Azure a Nereid ( a kind of mermaid, a daughter of ancient Greek God Nereus) Or. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "ALVARELHOS - TROFA".
Meaning:
Alvarelhos is home to a Bronze Age castrum, whence the nereid imagery might have come from, look here.

Alvarelhos Commune was one of the pre-2013 communes of Trofa Municipality (q.v.); it had 3151 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 6.5 km².
