Althengstett Coat of Arms

Shield Azure with base Vert, on base a horse forcene Argent.
Meaning:
The village was first mentioned around 1120 as "Hingesteten", related to a donation of Hirsau Monastery. The name is derived from a person's proper name. The current name in the arms is referred to by the stallion (German: Hengst). The stallion forcene first appeared on local seals (no date given in source). The Archive of Stuttgart suggested the pattern in 1920 as canting. The current form and tinctures were finally introduced in 1952.
