Gerstetten Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, a buzzard volant Gules, issuant from base a triplemount Vert.
Meaning:
The market town had a seal from the 17th century, displaying three barley ears. After 1922 the seal displayed a spear. Spear (Old German: Ger) and barley (German: Gerste) had been considered to be canting. The arms from 1953 also displayed a spear, charging a green leaf in a silver shield. Between 1971 and 1974 four villages had been incorporated. The mount is symbolising the local landscape, the buzzard the many birds of prey in the area. The colours are those of the Counts of Helfenstein, the former rulers.

The arms were approved by Minister of Interior of Baden-Württemberg on 21 April 1975. A, probably plain, bicolour was approved in 1953 together with the former arms.
