Schönau Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Gules a fess Argent, at sinister Azure a stag forcene Or.
Meaning:
Schönau had been seat of a reeve of St. Blasien Monastery. Its inhabitants always had been free people. It became a dominion of the Grand Duchy of Baden in 1805 and gained city rights in 1810. Local seals between 1336 and 1788 just displayed the arms of Austria, displayed on the dexter half of the current arms, but superimposed by a crozier, representing St. Blasien. In 1805 the crozier was replaced by a split pale. The current patten was introduced in 1888 with the Badenian bend at dexter and the stag of St. Blasien at sinister.
