Overview

Caló is the (or each of the) language(s) of Iberian Gypsies, unrelated to the Romany language(s) spoken by this people elsewhere in Europe and Asia. Caló is almost extinct as a living, separate language, but many words from its lexic are kept in use mixed with Spanish, Catalan and Portuguese. Caló itself is classified as a Romance language, not as a Indo-Aryan language.
