The capital of each province uses the same flag and coat of
arms of the province. The name of the capitals are the same as
the name of the provinces.

PROVINCIA is the first level subdivision in Costa Rica. The second level
subdivision CANTON and MUNICIPALIDAD in the case of Costa Rica are same entities
i.e. Cantons are Municipalities. As administrative-territorial entities these
are cantons, as local government entities these are municipalities. They can use
one or other designation, but it is the same level entity. Third level entity is
DISTRITO, and is sub-municipal entity.
